The Person Who Manages Your Building Has A Greater Influence on Your Health Than Your Doctor!
Our first homes were basic structures made from natural materials found in their environment. These early dwellings were primarily built for shelter, protection from the elements and predators, they were not designed or built for human health and wellness.
Our modern day homes are still not designed or built for human health and wellness. Our homes never perform as designed. They are notoriously inefficient and expensive to operate and they make us sick. “The person who manages your building has a greater impact on your health than your doctor” Dr. Joseph Allen.
According to the U. S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) the term "Sick Building Syndrome" (SBS) is used to describe situations in which building occupants experience acute health and comfort effects e.g., headache, eye, nose, or throat irritation, dry cough, dry or itchy skin, dizziness and nausea, fatigue and sensitivity to odors and inability to concentrate. Most of the complainants report relief soon after leaving the building.
Outdoor air quality has been heavily regulated by the EPA since 1970. Up to 70% of our exposure to outdoor air pollutants actually occurs indoors. We spend 90% of our lifetime indoors. Of that, 70% of our day is spent inside our homes (14-16 hours) and the majority of that time is spent in our bedrooms. Humans spend more time indoors than most whale species spend underwater. Indoor air quality is up to 100 times worse than outdoor air quality. There is no federal indoor air quality policy, standard, regulation, law or mandate to eliminate the harmful effects of Radon Gas and Asthma Triggers from our homes.
